This could be one of the cheapest Snapdragon 888 phones on the market
- Realme has revealed that its upcoming Realme GT will have pricing in line with its 2020 flagship.
- The Realme X50 Pro retailed for 3,500 yuan in China, €600 in Europe, and Rs 38,000 in India.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 and Samsung Galaxy S21 are two of the cheaper globally available Snapdragon 888 phones out there. But it looks like one other major manufacturer is taking aim at the cheapest flagship crown.
Realme executive Xu Qi Chase revealed on Weibo that the upcoming Realme GT flagship phone will have pricing in line with last year’s Realme X50 Pro. The early 2020 flagship had Chinese pricing of 3,500 yuan (~$516 at the time) for the base model, with European and Indian consumers paying €600 and Rs 38,000 respectively.
This price-point — if confirmed for other markets — suggests that we could be looking at one of the cheapest Snapdragon 888 phones globally too. The Mi 11 started at €749 (~$901) in Europe and the Samsung Galaxy S21 has a price tag of $799 in the US, €849 in Europe, £769 in the UK, and Rs 70,000 in India.
A 3,500 yuan price could also make the Realme GT one of the cheapest Snapdragon 888 phones in its home market of China, with the Mi 11 and Vivo Iqoo 7 coming in at 3,999 yuan and 3,798 yuan respectively. And it looks like you’re still getting a lot of bang for your buck.
The Realme GT will pack a QHD+ 160Hz screen, a 5,000mAh battery with 125W charging, and a triple camera setup (64MP+13MP+13MP). So those on the hunt for an affordable flagship with plenty of bells and whistles will want to keep an eye on this device.
In saying so, Redmi has confirmed that its Snapdragon 888-toting K40 series is on the way this week, and will start at 2,999 yuan (~$464), just edging the Realme GT out. Nevertheless, it looks like affordable flagships are back on the menu this year. But here’s hoping Realme and Xiaomi both deliver competitive global pricing too.
