Facebook today began testing a new photo transfer tool, which will let users transfer their photos and videos from Facebook to Google Photos. The new tool is being rolled out in Ireland today and can be accessed in Facebook settings within Your Facebook Information.
While users will initially be able to transfer media files to only Google Photos, Facebook says it plans to add support for more services in the future. The feature is expected to be rolled out to all Facebook users worldwide by the first half of next year.
Facebook's new photo transfer tool is part of the open-source Data Transfer Project, which was launched last year as a service-to-service data portability platform.
