New on Amazon Prime Video in August 2021: Zombies, Modern Love, and more
What’s new on Amazon Prime Video in August 2021? Well, The streaming service will debut yet another zombie-themed TV series, with a twist. There’s also the second season of Modern Love, and the US debut of the long-awaited final Evangelion anime movie, among others.

S.O.Z. Soldiers or Zombies Season 1 (August 6)
Are you ready for yet another zombie-themed TV series? Amazon Prime Video hopes you are with this interesting twist on telling stories of the undead. The Spanish language (with English subtitles) series centers on a Mexican drug lord, who escapes from prison in his native country, and heads to a small town just across the US. border. What he doesn’t know is that a failed experiment has turned both US and Mexican soldiers into zombies. Now the drug lord has to protect his young son, and team up with the US Army, to fight off the zombie soldiers.
Modern Love Season 2 (August 13)
The second season of this anthology series, based on the New York Times column of the same name, continues to show stories of love and romance in various ways. As with the first season, the second series features an all-star cast, including Minnie Driver
Evangelion:3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time (August 13)
Anime fans in general, and Evangelion in particular, have been waiting for the final Evangelion movie to drop for some time. The movie, already released in its native Japan, is being offered to the rest of the world in August via Amazon Prime Video. This is the last movie of the four film series that itself is a reboot of the popular 1990s Evangelion sci-fi anime TV series, about humans battling an alien invasion via massive mech machines. Amazon Prime Video will also drop the previous three Evangelion films on the service on the same day.
Annette (August 20)
Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard star in this original musical movie. They play a very public couple (he’s a comedian, she’s an opera singer). However, the birth of their daughter Annette affects both of their lives in new and different ways.
