Oppo accidentally leaks release date of Color OS 12 (and thus, Android 12)
- Oppo’s Chinese digital assistant Breeno leaked the Color OS 12 release date.
- The date is September 13, 2021. Breeno has since been updated to not dish that date.
- It is very likely Android 12 itself would launch before that date.
With this week’s launch of Android 12 beta 4.1, we are very, very close to the stable release of the new operating system. At this point, it’s only a matter of weeks before we see it.
On the coattails of that release, we should see various companies launch their new Android skins based on Android 12. That’s what brought a Weibo user (via GSM Arena) to ask Oppo’s Chinese digital assistant Breeno when Color OS 12 would launch. Surprisingly, Breeno gave a very specific answer.
Check out the screenshot below:
Translated, that answer appears to be September 13, 2021, at 3:00 PM China time. That would equate to September 12, 2021, at 3:00 AM Eastern time.
Since word started to spread of this news, Oppo updated Breeno to not answer this question anymore. Now, it says something along the lines of “stay tuned.”

If Color OS 12 does launch on September 13, that would mean Android 12 itself would have already launched. It is unlikely Google would launch Android 12 at 3:00 AM on a Sunday in New York, so it’s more likely Android 12 would launch during the previous week.
Of course, this all could be a big mistake and Color OS 12 won’t launch that day. However, considering Android 12 is nearly ready for prime time, this isn’t totally out of the question.
