Android gaming is getting bigger and better every month it seems and there is always a slew of new titles coming to Google Play. Whether you’re a casual gamer or you want something with a bit more meat on its bones, there’s usually a game coming out to suit everyone’s taste. Some months are better than others, but there is usually at least one great new game on mobile every month. Let’s take a look at the best new Android games from the last month! Baba Is You
Price: $6.99
Baba Is You is an interesting puzzle game. The game revolves around your ability to change the rules. The various blocks in the game are physical representations of the rules. You move the blocks, change the rules, and then continue through the game. You can do all kinds of stuff and create interactions with your movements. A couple of examples including turning yourself into rock or turning grass into lava. The graphics won’t win any awards, but frankly, it doesn’t matter in the slightest. The game is fun.
Crypt of the NecroDancer
Price: $4.99
Crypt of the NecroDancer is a hybrid between a dungeon crawling roguelike and a rhythm game. Players move through dungeons, kill bad guys, and find look like your average dungeon crawler. However, you do so to the beat of the music playing in the game. The game has its own soundtrack or you can import your own MP3s and use those instead. It’s a mobile port of the PC and Switch versions of the game. It’s just as good here as it is there. This one also has Chromebook support as well.
Guardians of Cloudia
Price: Free to play
Guardians of Cloudia is a gacha RPG. It plays a lot like most gacha RPGs. You summon various pets which you then evolve and upgrade. From there, you do battle in the story mode or online in PvP. The game has a lot of pros and cons. The pros include a variety of game modes to play through, lots of creatures to unlock and level up, and a decent skill tree mechanic. However, the PvP is honestly pretty bad and most actions have a failure rate that makes tasks take even longer. It’s definitely good as long as you’re into this kind of thing, but do beware of the free to play elements as they are rather aggressive.
Knights of San Francisco
Price: $2.99
Knights of San Francisco is a text-based RPG. Players move around a ruined San Francisco many years after society collapses. It is infested with various monsters and also various treasures for you to explore and find. There are a lot of fun elements to this game. For instance, combat takes place on a fairly granular level. You can, in fact, chop something’s arm off and then beat them with it. Most of your choices have consequences in the long haul and the game has no loading screens at all. The only downside is, if you know everything, the game only takes about 90 minutes to finish. Thankfully, the price is cheap enough to still recommend it.
Lost in Blue
Price: Free to play
Lost in Blue is a delightful mix of an MMORPG and a survival game. The game starts with you crash landing on an island. You basically decide what you want to do from there. You can explore, fight people, build, help others survive, and do other things. The game world also houses mysteries about some strange things happening. In any case, there is a lot to do in this game. The graphics and controls are definitely good enough and you can spend a long time playing this one. It does need a bit of polish, especially for folks with lower-end devices, but otherwise, it seems pretty good.

Not Exactly A Hero

Not Exactly A Hero is the latest adventure game from Buff Studio, developer of Buff Knight, Underworld Office, and Argo’s Choice. It’s technically a superhero game but told from a different perspective. You play as Riley, an everyday person who works in the background helping actual heroes. The game is narrative-driven with many branching stories based on your decisions. The game includes ten total endings. Even your character interactions change based on how you do things. It’s an entertaining game. The only thing we don’t like about it is the game’s energy system. You can watch adds for tickets, but the game burns through tickets quickly so you end up waiting a lot more often than you’d want.
OneBit Adventure
Price: Free to play
OneBit Adventure is a roguelike with pixel graphics. It’s fairly typical of roguelikes in base mechanics. The game features one-handed controls where you move your character and swipe into bad guys to attack them. You continue going for as long as you can. The game includes a few different classes, RPG mechanics, and infinite level generation. That means no two playthroughs are exactly the same. Plus, you get the usual stuff like boss fights, skills, and more. There are even leaderboards if you feel like going for that. It’s a solid all-around game if you’re into this genre.
RuneScape
Price: Free / $10.99 per month / $99.99 per year / In-app purchases
After an extended beta period, Jagex finally released an official RuneScape client on Android. It features the full game along with cross-platform play. You can play on your computer and then log in and play again on your phone. For those who somehow don’t know, RuneScape is one of the oldest and most successful MMORPGs on any platform. The game is old and the developers added to it often over the years. There are a ton of quests to do, friends to make, and things to do overall. The game has a few known issues, like lag and optimization issues. The developers are aware of the issue and are working on it.
Storypick
Price: Free to play
Storypick is the latest game from Com2uS, developers of Summoners War and many other games. The game lets you play out the storyline of a TV show, except this time you get to make decisions that impact the final outcome. What makes the game unique is that there are several actual TV shows, such as Netflix’s Kingdom and Channel A’s Heart Signal. It’s definitely a different way to experience those shows. The game’s free-to-play elements are a little obnoxious. You have to watch ads to get a chance at roulette that rewards a small number of in-game currency. It’s tedious. Other than that, the game is quite good.
The Witcher Tales: Thronebreaker
Price: Free / $9.99
The Witcher Tales: Thronebreaker is a single-player campaign attached to GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. It uses the same mechanics as GWENT. You traverse the game’s story in a series of card duels. The story is actually quite good. Players have the opportunity to make decisions to affect the outcome of the game. Plus, the cut scenes and dialog are actually quite good. Like most new games, it isn’t without its bugs, but the developers seem to be working to correct them.
