Checkers (also known as draughts) is an excellent game for all ages. It’s easy enough to learn as a kid and challenging enough to play as an adult. There are also a surprisingly large number of variants over its 3,500 year history. Board sizes can range between 8 by 8 to 12 by 12 depending on the region. Plus, the rules are different as well. There are actually a metric ton of checkers games on Android. Thankfully, most of them are pretty good and we attribute that to the simple premise of checkers itself. AI Factory Checkers
Price: Free / $1.99
AI Factory Limited is a developer on Google Play with a lot of classic games like this one. It’s a fairly standard and simple checkers game with enough options to keep it interesting. The game includes 12 difficulty levels, a local multiplayer mode, six checker sets and seven checker boards, an undo button, a hint system, and user stats to see your progress. Also, the free and premium games contain all of the same content. The premium version just removes ads. You could do a lot worse, even if it’s not the most mind blowing option.
Checkersland
Price: Free
Checkersland is a simple, but good game of draughts. It has a lot of the basics, including a two player local multiplayer mode, seven levels of difficulty, and support for ten languages. You can also undo and redo moves and the game auto-saves so you can continue where you left off. The graphics are a bit simple, but it works beautifully on lower end devices so there is that. This one is free with advertising. The developer also has a variant of this game with online game play support for nearly two dozen game types against players all around the world. We recommend both versions of the game.
Coffee Break Checkers

Checkers by Coffee Break Games is another functional, fun checkers game. It’s the American and English variant of the game where you can’t capture backwards unless you have a King piece. It also includes the Spanish and Turkish variants. The UI isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s easy to use, functional, and large enough for most players. You can also do things like choose board size (6×6 up to 10×10), and more. It’s also one of the better free checkers games as long as you don’t mind some ads.
Dalmax Checkers

Dalmax Checkers is another basic checkers game with a simple UI, simple mechanics, and some fun options. The game comes with multiple variants of the game, including Italian, Polish, Brazilian, Pool, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Czech, Turkish, and Thai version of checkers. You can even customize the rules and play your own version of the game. The game graphics aren’t much to look at, but it gets the job done and supports both landscape and portrait mode play. It’s free with no in-app purchases, but there are some ads.

Damas is a clean draughts game with a few different variants. You can play Spanish, International, Turkish, Russian, and American checkers. The game also includes a two-player local multiplayer, board sizes that range from 6×6 to 10×10, an undo button, and some other customizations. There are also some extra themes, a few basic stats, and other stuff. It’s a free game with some very bearable advertisements so it’s great for people on a budget.

Dama – Online is one of only a few competent online checkers experiences on mobile. The game supports ELO scores, a text chat, and you can invite players to play with you. It also supports a local multiplayer mode over Bluetooth. Some of the other game features include an undo move function, the ability to create your own custom positioning before a game, and some other neat stuff. It’s a nice way to pass the time.
Draughts 10×10

Draughts 10×10 is specifically for fans of International (Polish) checkers. This one includes an online multiplayer elements with ELO rankings, chat, a stat history, and a win-loss record. You can play solo or with another person in local multiplayer mode. Some other game features include an auto-save function, undos, several board themes, and you can even start a game with your own custom position and start playing there. This one has a lot of little niceties you don’t typically see in most checkers games.
English Checkers

English Checkers is a surprisingly decent checkers game. It may say English Checkers, but it actually has rulesets for multiple variants, including rarer ones like Damii, Makhos, Ghanaian, and Nigerian checkers. This one also features flashier graphics than most and it actually looks pretty good. Some of the game’s additional features include ten difficulty modes, a two player local multiplayer, an auto-save function, two board views (2D and horizontal 3D), and a help guide with some of the rules. The free version and the premium version is the same except the free version has ads. You can also use the premium version for free if you use Google Play Pass.
Gamma Play Checkers

Checkers by Gamma Play is a little basic, but a good checkers game. The game features five difficulty levels, eight board themes, and a two player local multiplayer mode for those long car trips. It also features offline support if you need that. There are five game variants available here, including English, Russian, Turkish, Spanish, and International. This one won’t blow your socks off, but it has more than enough for a good, simple game of checkers.
WorldClass Checkers

WorldClass Checkers is an above average checkers game with some great options. It supports a variety of game types, including some of the more rare ones. Additionally, you can create custom rules to fill in the blanks or come up with some fun game types yourself. The game comes with support for 6×6, 8×8, and 10×10 boards, the ability to undo moves, five levels of difficulty, and support for two players. It’s not as feature as heavy as some others, but the simplicity is nice. The higher difficulties aren’t all that difficult but otherwise this is a solid option. This one seems to have quite a few clones (or perhaps this one is a clone of a different one). Luckily, checkers is difficult to mess up on mobile so it’s still pretty good.
