Huawei Watch Fit packs almost 100 sports modes for under $150 (Update)

Huawei Watch Fit Leaked Renders

Update, August 31, 2020 (7:30 AM ET): The Huawei Watch Fit is now official.

Featuring a 1.64-inch rectangular display, running Lite OS, and powered by the Kirin A1 chipset, the fitness wearable is good for a week of “heavy usage” according to Huawei. It also features GPS tracking, but when in use battery life is only good for 12 hours.

Huawei does guarantee the device can track 96 workouts, namely “11 professional sport modes including running, swimming and cycling” and “85 custom workout modes.” The Watch Fit includes sleep monitoring, menstruation tracking, blood oxygen saturation monitoring, and heart-rate tracking, too.

The Watch Fit will go on sale in the United Arab Emirates from September 3 for 399 UAE dirham (~$108) on Huawei’s store. It’s not clear when the device will be available in other markets.

Original article, August 11, 2020 (6:56 AM ET): Huawei has a new smartwatch on the horizon and it looks like an elongated Apple Watch. Images, specs, and pricing of the Huawei Watch Fit have leaked thanks to tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore and an Austrian online retailer (h/t Roland Quandt).

There’s also a leaked brochure of the watch that lists out everything you would want to know about it. It’s in German so we’ve translated all the information we found in it, along with everything leaked by Ambhore below.

The Huawei Watch Fit doesn’t have Apple’s distinct square display. In fact, renders and the retail listing shows a device with a rectangular screen. However, its rounded metallic edges and neon-on-black UI are very reminiscent of the Apple Watch. It also looks very different compared to previous Huawei smartwatches we’ve reviewed, such as the Huawei Watch GT 2 and Huawei Watch GT 2e.

In terms of specs, both the leak and the retail outlet list the same attributes. The Huawei Watch Fit features a 1.64-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a 456 x 280 resolution. It has a heart-rate sensor, an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, GPS, and a barometer. In terms of activity tracking, you’ll get 96 sports modes, including walking, running, swimming, cycling, and more. The watch also comes with support for sleep tracking, blood oxygen or SpO2 measurements, and stress monitoring.

Besides this, the Huawei Watch Fit is said to feature 5ATM water resistance, a 180mAh battery, and notifications support. The smartwatch will be compatible with both Android phones and iPhones. Colorways, as listed in the leaked brochure, include Graphite Black, Mint Green, Cantaloupe Orange, and Sakura Pink. We also see these colors in the renders leaked by Ambhore and in the retail listing for the watch.

Coming to the price, the Huawei Watch Fit is rumored to cost €119 (~$140). It’s also listed on the Austrian retail website for the same price. Ambhore claims it’ll be available in Europe starting in September this year.
