OnePlus 6/6T update hub: Android 10 global rollout has resumed

Update, December 5, 2019 (3:56AM ET): OnePlus released and then pulled the stable Android 10 update for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T last month. This was due to unexpected bugs in the update, forcing the company to fix things.

Now, the company has confirmed on its forum that it’s started to roll out the Oxygen OS 10.0.1 update to the 2018 flagships. You can check out the changelog below:

  • System
    • Updated system to Android 10
    • Brand new UI for Android 10
    • Updated Android security patch to 2019.10
    • Fixed the fingerprint identification issue
    • Fixed the animation lag for fingerprint unlock
    • Fixed the automatic reboot issue after upgrade
  • Camera
    • Improved the performance and fixed known issues
  • Wi-Fi Connectivity
    • Fixed the 5Ghz Wi-Fi connection

The update fixes fingerprint-related bugs that were present in the initial Android 10 release, as well as an automatic reboot issue and a problem with 5Ghz Wi-Fi. Otherwise, you’re getting the usual Android 10 bells and whistles as well as the new Oxygen OS skin.

OnePlus says this is a staged rollout to a limited number of users, so you might need to wait a while to get it. But OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T users who don’t want to wait can try sideloading the update via the provided links.

OnePlus 6 and 6T update

  • Current stable version: Android 9 Pie
  • When will the OnePlus 6 and 6T get Android 10? September 2019 – November 2019 (estimated)

The OnePlus 6T launched towards the end of 2018 with the latest version of Android, Android 9 Pie. It’s expected to receive at least two major Android updates in the future.

Based on OnePlus’ recent updates, and the fact that the OnePlus 6T is a certified Android Q beta device, you’d think the phone was likely to receive the final version of Android 10 shortly after it’s released. After all, the OnePlus 6 arrived with Android Oreo but was updated to Android Pie within six weeks of it being released.

OnePlus announced Oxygen OS 9.0.8 for the OnePlus 6 and Oxygen OS 9.0.16 for the OnePlus 6T in August.

In addition to the usual bug fixes and stability improvements, the update brought Fnatic Mode which debuted on the OnePlus 7 Pro. Fnatic Mode is like Gaming Mode on steroids, giving gamers the maximum performance possible during play.

It also updated the Android security patch of the phones to August 2019, added DC dimming, and brought in additional Zen Mode features.

OnePlus briefly issued a stable Android 10 update at the end of November before pulling it due to unforeseen bugs.
