The best phablets of 2019: Super-size your display with these big phones
The definition of a phablet has changed over the years, starting with 5-inch phones at first. But a 5-inch device is on the small size these days, with 6-inch phones all very common thanks to tall aspect ratios.
Nowadays, we consider a phablet to have a 6.3-inch screen or larger. With that in mind, this is our list of the best phablets.

1. Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus pulls no punches. There’s a large 6.8-inch QHD+ display, a big 4,300mAh battery with wireless charging support, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and the Snapdragon 855 processor. If you don’t live in the US or China, you get the Exynos 9825.

2. OnePlus 7T
The OnePlus 7T OnePlus 7T is an easy recommendation for those looking for the most bang for the buck.
The star of the show is the 6.55-inch AMOLED screen. In our testing, the display bested the Galaxy Note 10 Plus’ display in areas like color accuracy, maximum brightness, and color temperature. Not only is the display HDR10 and HDR+ compatible, but it also features a 90Hz refresh rate. Scrolling around the phone is incredibly quick, and you’ll wonder how you used phones at 60Hz.

There’s also the Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, a rear triple camera system, a decently-sized 3,800mAh battery, and arguably the best take on Android 10 we’ve seen this side of the Pixel.
The OnePlus 7T is available for $599.

3. Google Pixel 4 XL
In our review, we had our fair share of reservations about the Google Pixel 4 XL. The Soli radar is currently unreliable, the display’s 90Hz refresh rate doesn’t work at all brightness levels, and we only get 64GB for the base version. That said, it’s a fantastic phablet for photography.

The Pixel 4 XL features the New Google Assistant, guaranteed three years of updates, the Snapdragon 855 processor, and a dual camera on the rear with a telephoto lens. Also featured are a fast face unlock and the aforementioned Soli radar. The Soli radar allows for Motion Sense, the Pixel 4 XL’s air gestures. Finally, the 90Hz refresh rate is a treat for the eyes when enabled.

4. Huawei P30 Pro
Even though the Huawei P30 Pro launched earlier in 2019, it remains the best Huawei smartphone if you want Google apps.
The P30 Pro features a 6.47-inch display with curved edges, similar to the ones found on the Galaxy S10. Other features include the Kirin 980 chipset, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a massive 4,200mAh battery.

The best part is the camera system. Around back are the 40MP standard lens, 20MP ultra wide-angle lens, and 8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. There’s also a fourth ToF 3D camera. The Huawei P30 Pro starts at €1,000 (~$1,111).

5. Asus ROG Phone 2
The Asus ROG Phone 2 isn’t the first gaming smartphone. However, it’s easily the best gaming smartphone available and one we can recommend to everyone.
If you’re a spec-head, the ROG Phone 2 is calling your name. A large 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate? Check. The Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, 12GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of internal storage? Yup. A gigantic 6,000mAh battery that will last you a few days on one charge? Yes.

Asus didn’t just throw together a bunch of high-end specs and call it a day, however. The software is clean and performance is snappy. Even the dual rear 48MP and 13MP cameras put out some solid images.

There’s a cutout in the upper-right corner for the 10 and 8MP cameras. Also on the front is the excellent 6.4-inch QHD+ AMOLED display. Rounding out the notable features are the Snapdragon 855 processor, expandable storage, large 4,100mAh battery, and headphone jack.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus starts at $999.99.

The launch of the OnePlus 7 series marked the first time that OnePlus launched a standard and Pro model.
The phone features a 6.67-inch OLED display with a notch-free design. It also features a 90Hz refresh rate and a QHD+ resolution. It all makes for one of the best displays you’ll find on a smartphone.

The OnePlus 7 Pro also offers the Snapdragon 855, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. Around back is a triple camera system with a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP 3x telephoto sensor, and a 16MP ultra-wide sensor.
The base model costs $669, which gives you 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The Asus Zenfone 6 surprised us with how good it was, particularly for a phone half the price of the competition. There’s the Snapdragon 855, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of expandable storage, and a huge 5,000mAh battery. There’s also a clean build of Android 9 Pie.
However, the best part is the flip camera system. The mechanical camera system means the 48MP main and 13MP ultra wide-angle cameras double as selfie cameras on command.
The Asus Zenfone 6 starts at just $499.
