Watch Alvarez-Kovalev on Feb. 2 on Top Rank Boxing on ESPN+
ESPN+ has the late-night fight on Feb. 2, so now's a good time to use that free trial.
WBO World Light Heavyweight champ Eleider Alvarez defends against Sergey Kovalev on Feb. 2, streamed live on ESPN+.
Things kick off at 10 p.m. Eastern on ESPN with Oscar Valdez taking on Carmine Tommasone for the WBO featherweight title, and Richard Commey against Isa Chaniev for the IBF lightweight title.
And the fights keep on through the night on ESPN+, with Alvarez-Kovalev (as well as the 10-round lightweight fight of Teofimo Lopez vs. Diego Magdaleno) starting right around midnight eastern time.
Alvarez and Kovalev hardly are strangers. The two fought back on Aug. 4, 2017, in Atlantic City, N.J., with Alvarez (24-0, 12 KOs) dispatching Kovalev (32-3-1, 28 KOs) with a TKO in the seventh round.
Here's a look at what when down — several times — in that 2017 fight:
The ol' rematch clause is what's brought us to Saturday's fight.
On Thursday, you can catch the Top Rank press conference on ESPN+ at 1 p.m. Eastern. Friday's weigh-in starts at 5 p.m.
ESPN+ is the streaming-only arm of ESPN. It runs just $4.99 a month and includes a host of sports, including football, basketball, soccer, hockey, boxing, UFC and more.
It's available on Android and iOS devices, Apple TV, Android TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV, and you can watch via Xbox One or PlayStation 4. ESPN+ also is available in a web browser. Chromecast and AirPlay also are supported.
And as you'd expect from this sort of thing, ESPN+ comes with a free seven-day trial, so you can take things for a test drive to see how they work for you.
Also on Saturday, ESPN+ plays host to UFC Fight Night Fortaleza, with No. 3 UFC Bantamweight contender Raphael Assuncao in a rematch against No. 4 Marlon Moraes. The preliminary fights start at 4 p.m., with the main event beginning around 7 p.m. Eastern.
