  • New details of the Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds have leaked.
  • They will reportedly pack 12 hours of battery life, ANC, and a new design.

We’ve seen crystal clear renders and spied some more details from early leaks. Now, a full look at the Sony WF-1000XM4, along with its key specs, has spilled.

WinFuture‘s latest report gives us top-to-toe detailing of what we can expect from the buds. For starters, the German publication posted numerous renders showcasing the true wireless earbuds in a dull silver or matte black with gold accents. There’s also mention of a potential all-gold colorway, but it’s unclear if it’ll make the cut. Nevertheless, the design showcased by WinFuture is similar to that which appeared in earlier renders.

Internally, the Sony WF-1000XM4 will pack ANC enabled by the Sony V1 processor, per the leak. The chipset also supports LDAC and Hi-Res Audio. “Precise Voice Pickup” technology may also feature, which will allow users to adjust companion app settings via voice commands.

Adding further intrigue is the suggested battery life. The WF-1000XM4 could be suitable for eight hours with ANC switched on — two hours more than the original leaks claimed. With ANC off, the runtime reportedly extends to 12 hours. The charging case may also carry as much as two additional full charges. When the case dies, it can be topped up wirelessly through a Qi-compatible wireless charger or USB-C port.

Finally, for fitness fiends, the buds will reportedly come with an IPX4 rating. This should protect them against splashes, sweat, and gentle rain.

So, how much will it cost? The rumor suggests the Sony WF-1000XM4 will launch at €279.90 (~$343) in Europe. Expect that price to vary between regions, but it’ll likely come in pricier than the still commendable WF-1000XM3. That price would also place them well above the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro and the Apple AirPods Pro and in the range of the Bose QuietComfort.

There’s still no word of a launch date, but don’t be too surprised if they debut pretty soon.
