Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G is one step closer to reality
- The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G has been certified by Bluetooth SIG.
- Model numbers included in the listing line up with previous leaks.
Samsung is widely expected to launch the Galaxy Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G in August, and we’ve seen several leaks regarding each foldable. Now, it looks like the latter device is one step closer to reality.
The clamshell foldable just passed through the Bluetooth SIG website, with most of the listings explicitly calling the device the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
The listings also contain model numbers, namely: SM-F707B, SM-F707N, SM-F707U, SM-F707U1, SM-F707U_SPR, SM-F707W, and SM-F7070. These numbers broadly line up with previous leaks.
It’s also interesting to note that one of the listings calls the phone ‘Bloom-X.’ For what it’s worth, Bloom was the codename for the 4G-enabled Galaxy Z Flip.
Otherwise, the listings all note that the Galaxy Z Flip 5G will support Bluetooth 5.0. This would be in line with the 4G model, which offered Bluetooth 5.0 even though the chipset supported Bluetooth 5.1. Hopefully this is just a placeholder and the new foldable supports Bluetooth 5.1 as well.
We’re expecting Samsung’s upcoming clamshell foldable to be largely identical to the original model. But hopefully the phone includes a much bigger battery and faster charging, as these were the two main issues David Imel had in his Galaxy Z Flip review. Battery capacity will be doubly important with the inclusion of 5G, which tends to consume more power in the first place.
