Retail screen protectors confirm Galaxy S11 display sizes, camera cutouts
The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S11 family is right around the corner, and we already have a good idea of what they’ll look like. However, that idea is from unofficial renders, which can very often be wrong.
Android Authority has obtained retail versions of screen protectors for three of the devices in the Galaxy S11 family. These protectors and the box art that comes with them confirm several aspects of the upcoming Samsung flagships.
The first thing the boxes confirm is the display sizes of three of the devices. We can expect Samsung Galaxy S11 displays clocking in at 6.2 inches, 6.7 inches, and 6.9 inches.
Unfortunately, the screen protectors do not confirm which device will attach to which screen size. There are rumors that the Galaxy S11 series could not have an “e” variant, as we saw in 2019 with the Samsung Galaxy S10e. Considering the smallest display size between these three protectors is significantly larger than what we saw on the S10e (5.8 inches), we are inclined to believe that the display sizes could break down as follows:
- Samsung Galaxy S11 — 6.2 inches
- Samsung Galaxy S11 Plus — 6.7 inches
- Larger Samsung Galaxy S11 — 6.9 inches
To be clear, we have no idea what the largest variant will be called and the box art doesn’t confirm that. But the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G had the largest display size of the S10 family at 6.7 inches, so it would be very strange for the “mega” model of the S11 family to be smaller.
Samsung could instead significantly bump the size of the S11e as compared to the S10e. If so, the three devices would be S11e at 6.2 inches, S11 at 6.7 inches, and S11 Plus at 6.9 inches.
Moving on from display sizes, the leaked Galaxy S11 protectors also confirm that all three of these models will have a single, center-aligned camera cutout on the front. If you’ll remember, the S10 Plus and S10 5G both had dual cameras on the front aligned to the right. These protectors confirm that the S11 family will adopt the design of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 line and have a single camera in the middle.
Stay tuned for more Galaxy S11 coverage to come as we get closer to the launch date of February 11, 2019.
