The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus‘ received its first update in August. It didn’t include new features, but SamMobile reported that it included the August 2019 security patch.
The update also improved the performance of the fingerprint sensor, camera, and more with software version N97*FXXU1ASH5. Here’s the full changelog:
- The performance of fingerprint recognition has been improved
- The performance of touch screen has been improved
- The stability of camera has been improved
- Camera picture quality has been improved
- The security of your device has been improved
The October 2019 Android security patch rolled out to Exynos variants of the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus on October 7. The patch brought with it some camera quality enhancements and keyboard tweaks.
Later, Samsung accidentally rolled out the One UI 2.0 beta program for the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus. The company pulled the update soon afterward, telling users it would be rolled out later on. Eventually, Samsung officially released One UI 2.0 beta update. SamMobile reported that it initially began rolling out to Note 10 users in Germany before rolling out to other markets (not including the US).
Now, the November update brings several security patches to Verizon Galaxy Note 10 devices. This update not only brings minor bug fixes but also a patch for the critical fingerprint flaw that affected many flagship Samsung Galaxy devices.
Samsung began working on a fix right after the issue surfaced last month, but it looks like it took until now for the update to roll out to Verizon customers. Verizon says all users should install this update as soon as they can. It also says users should re-register their fingerprints without a screen protector after receiving this update to assure effective biometric security.
The OTA update is currently rolling out to all Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 10 Plus, Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G, and even Galaxy S10 devices on Verizon. Hopefully, Samsung also releases patches for remaining affected devices soon.
