Foldable Motorola Razr: Price, release date, availability, and more
Today, Motorola took the wraps off its very first foldable device: the Motorola Razr! The new smartphone joins the very limited selection of foldable devices launched this year, including the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X. However, the Motorola Razr price is much lower than those phones.
That doesn’t mean that the Razr is cheap! On the contrary, this is still a very expensive device, especially when you consider it has a much weaker spec sheet than the Mate X or the Galaxy Fold. Still, the design of the device is much different than those foldables and might be the practical product that will get people interested in the foldable future.

Motorola Razr release date
Motorola formally launched the Razr at an event in Los Angeles on November 13, 2019. The device looks just like the Razr phones from the early 2000s — in fact, folded in half, the device is as thin as the very first Razr phone from 2004.
Motorola is continuing its partnership with Verizon and offering the Razr as an exclusive on that carrier. Pre-orders for the Razr will open on December 26, 2019, and general in-store availability begins on January 9, 2020.
It’s likely the device will eventually be available as an unlocked model, but at the start, only Verizon customers will have access to the device in the United States.

Motorola Razr price and availability
On Verizon in the US, the Motorola Razr price will be $1,500. You can either pay for the device outright or sign up for a payment plan and pay $62.49 per month for the next 24 months.
That price is a little lower than the Samsung Galaxy Fold, which starts at $1,980. It’s also significantly cheaper than the Huawei Mate X, which starts at €2,299 (~$2,529). However, since there’s just a Snapdragon 710 on board with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, one wonders why the company couldn’t make the Motorola Razr price even lower than $1,500.
The device will hit the US first on January 9, 2020, and will quickly follow in Canada in early 2020. Motorola says the Razr will also land in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Australia at some point next year, but exact dates (and pricing) for all other countries are unknown at the moment.
