Unlocked Galaxy A50 pre-orders now live on Amazon (with free Galaxy Fit)
Samsung’s Galaxy A series has been rejuvenated in 2019 thanks to its decision to beef up specs and offer solid pricing. The Samsung Galaxy A50 is arguably the pick of the lot, but it’s only available via networks.
Thankfully, the unlocked variant is now available to pre-order via Amazon (h/t: SamMobile), coming in at $350. And if you pre-order now, you’ll also get a Samsung Galaxy Fit fitness tracker. Either way, the retailer says the item will be released on September 20.
The Galaxy A50 ticks quite a few boxes for a mid-range smartphone in 2019, featuring a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen (FHD+), in-display fingerprint sensor, and a 4,000mAh battery with 15W charging.
Samsung’s mid-ranger doesn’t fare too badly elsewhere, offering an Exynos 9610 chipset, 4GB to 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage. A 25MP selfie camera in a waterdrop notch and a triple rear camera setup (25MP, 8MP ultra-wide, 5MP depth) round out the photography side of things.
Our own Dhruv Bhutani thought the device was one of the best Samsung mid-rangers in years in his Galaxy A50 review. He praised the OLED screen, design, and performance, but also liked the software experience in comparison to the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
“This phone does not get in the way or bother you with extended permissions, and it definitely does not pop up advertisements. For me, and I would imagine a significant number of users, this is a pretty big incentive,” Dhruv wrote.
The only possible downside is that Samsung’s already announced the Galaxy A50s, which offers a 48MP main camera instead of the A50’s 25MP sensor. But otherwise, the A50s doesn’t offer any other changes.
