The Nokia 7.2 continues the trend of HMD delivering solid budget phones, and Indian users can soon see what all the fuss is about when the phone is released next week.

Nokia’s mid-range device packs a Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, and a 3,500mAh battery with 10W charging.

The Nokia 7.2 also serves up a triple rear camera setup as you’d expect these days, featuring a 48MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide snapper, and 5MP depth sensor. Selfies are handled by a 20MP camera in a waterdrop notch.

Other noteworthy details include a 6.3-inch FHD+ LCD screen, rear fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm port, USB-C, and a dedicated Google Assistant button.

HMD’s phone is part of the Android One initiative, which means a stock take on Android and at least two years of Android feature updates (along with three years of security patches). In fact, the firm says the phone is “Android Q ready.”

Editor's Pick

The phone starts at Rs. 18,599 (~$261) for the 4GB/64GB variant and Rs. 19,599 (~$275) for the 6GB/64GB variant. The Nokia 7.2 will be available from September 23 via Nokia’s website and Flipkart in Charcoal and Cyan Green.

The device seems like a rather solid phone for the price, but the likes of Realme and Xiaomi are coming in even cheaper with their phones. We saw the Realme 5 Pro and Realme XT launch in India recently at just ~$200 and ~$225 respectively, offering more powerful chipset and bigger batteries. The XT also serves up a 64MP main camera, upping the ante on paper.

Then again, our own Ryan-Thomas Shaw slammed the Realme 5 Pro for its “awful software” and bloatware, with fellow Android Authority reviewer Dhruv Bhutani also criticizing the bloatware. So those on the hunt for a lightweight take on Android and a device with guaranteed updates should certainly keep the Nokia 7.2 in mind.
