The all-new Pura X View from Huawei breaks the rules of standard flagship design, a wide, non-foldable smartphone that places pure screen real estate above traditional form factors.

Ahead of its retail debut, the Huawei Pura X View is now up for preorders, but there’s still one big piece missing: the price. The company has opened preorders through its official VMall and JD.com stores, giving buyers an early look at the storage configurations and colors before the phone hits brick and mortar stores on August 28.

Unlike Huawei's foldable phones, the Pura X View has a different take on getting more screen real estate. It's a wide, non-foldable smartphone built around a display that reaches much closer to the edges. Huawei claims the phone has a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio, while the bezels around the panel are just 1.05mm.

Huawei says the Pura X View provides 16% more screen space for watching videos and 21% more for browsing in portrait mode than typical flagship phones. That could make the phone especially attractive for people who spend a lot of time reading, scrolling or watching content on their phones.

There are three storage configurations available for preorder, all paired with 12GB of RAM: 256GB, 512GB, and a 1TB model. Buyers can also opt for red, gray, white, and black.

To reiterate, Huawei hasn’t announced pricing yet. That leaves shoppers ordering the phone without knowing just how much this unusual design will cost. A previous rumor claimed that the Pura X View could arrive at around 7000 yuan, but that is unconfirmed.

Huawei has not even revealed the complete specs of the phone, so there is still a lot we don’t know. It's highly likely the phone won't be sold outside of China anytime soon. The Pura X View is, for now, looking like an experiment in making a traditional smartphone feel more expansive without a hinge.
