Android gaming is getting bigger and better every month, and there is always a slew of new titles coming to Google Play. Whether you’re a casual gamer or want something with a bit more meat on its bones, there’s usually a game coming out to suit everyone’s taste. Some months are better than others, but there is usually at least one great new game on mobile every month. Let’s look at the best new Android games from the last month! Desta: The Memories Between
Price: Free (for Netflix subscribers only)
Destra is one of two Netflix-exclusive games to make our list this month. It blends sports with combat, where you land trick shots to damage opponents. That’s a fancy way of saying that you’re playing dodgeball. There are also roguelike elements to help keep things interesting. In terms of gameplay, it’s pretty decent, although you do get bounced back to the beginning of the game if you fail. It’s nice to see Netflix doing good work with these releases. A Netflix version of Oxenfree, a former member of this very list, is also available.
Homeworld Mobile
Price: Free to play
Homeworld Mobile is an RTS game that takes place in space. It’s based on the original Homeworld game, and your goal is to explore the universe, conquer opponents, and more. The gameplay loop is pretty typical. You get resource collectors, use the resources to build various things, and use your army and resources to conquer opponents. The graphics are decent, and the space combat is pretty well done. The game is a bit overwhelming at first, as the game throws a lot at you at the beginning. Once you get used to it, it’s a good overall game. The only issues we ran into were some connectivity issues.
MARVEL Snap
Price: Free to play
MARVEL Snap is a card dueling game. The gameplay loop is similar to other dueling games. You play games, unlock cards, get stronger stuff, and go back to dueling. What separates this one is how quickly games go. It boasts three-minute game times, and the game omits many of the long animations that other titles have. There are some other mechanics as well, like being able to up the ante when you think you’re going to win. This one is good, and as long as microtransactions don’t become an issue, it should remain good.
Masha and the Bear: My Friends
Price: Free / $2.99 per month / $19.99 per year
Masha and the Bear: My Friends is a kids’ game. It’s also similar to old Tamagotchi games. Players take care of their pets by feeding, healing, and dressing them. There are some mini-games and other activities, like tennis, a harmonica, and other stuff. The graphics are pretty decent, and everything looks and feels pretty good. This one has a subscription cost instead of the usual premium price tag. We understand if that turns you off to the game.
Match Puzzle House
Price: Free to play
Match Puzzle House is a match-three game. It’s similar in terms of gameplay to most match-three games. You match three shapes together, and it makes them disappear. Obviously, the more colors you match, the bigger the combo. On top of that, players earn a bunch of things to decorate a house that the game gives you early on. There is also the usual array of things like boosters to help you clear levels. It’s nothing really new, but it fits well with other match-three games.
MementoMori
Price: Free to play
MementoMori is a gacha RPG with idle elements. The game essentially plays itself while you watch and add things like speed or money boosts to increase your growth. What makes this game unique is its art style and story. The watercolor-style graphics are truly pleasing to look at. Additionally, the developers did an excellent job with the small stuff, like backstory, voiceover acting, and other stuff. This is definitely one of the better idle games we’ve seen in a long time.
Railbound
Price: $4.99
Railbound is a puzzle game where you set up train tracks. The idea is to connect the two railcars to the engine so it can haul them off. The mechanics aren’t complicated, and it’ll take maybe a few minutes to get acquainted with it. The game boasts over 150 levels, various obstacles, and other stuff. There are also no timers or energy counters to mess things up. It’s $4.99 with no additional in-app purchases or ads.
The Sigma Theory
Price: $6.99
Sigma Theory is a surprisingly deep strategy game. You run the Sigma division, and your goal is to get your hands on the Sigma Theory before rival nations. To do that, you hire various experts to spy on them and prevent their success. It’s turn-based, so whenever you do a thing, you have to wait until your next turn to do another thing. It’s a premium game, so there are no microtransaction mechanics to get in your way. The graphics aren’t anything to write home about, but the gameplay is addictingly good.
Spiritfarer
Price: Free (for Netflix subscribers only)
Spiritfarer is the second of two Netflix games to hit the list this month. It’s a management sim where you play the role of a spiritfarer. Your job is to ferry people to the afterlife. That includes building a boat, decking it out with upgrades, and more. In addition, there is a platformer element where you run through levels as well as farming, crafting, and cooking. There are quite a few things to do to keep players busy. This one is free, but only if you’re a Netflix subscriber.
T3 Arena
Price: Free to play
T3 Arena is an online, multiplayer, third-person shooter. It plays as you would expect. You choose your character, jump into the action, and use your guns and abilities to win. The game features a few different multiplayer modes, smooth graphics, and decent controls. The gameplay is chaotic, and the best matches seem to be when everyone joins in the middle for a good old-fashioned brawl. Playing is fun as long as you don’t take the game too seriously.
