  • Xiaomi could be readying a Snapdragon 870-powered version of the Mi 10.
  • Phones in the series have previously sported Snapdragon 865 silicon.

Xiaomi launched the Mi 11 just a few weeks ago to take on the likes of Samsung and OnePlus. But according to new a rumor, the company isn’t done with its Mi 10 lineup just yet.

Tipster Digital Chat Station claims in a Weibo post that Xiaomi is preparing a Mi 10 model powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset. See the full machine-translated post below.

Until now, all models in the Mi 10 series have used the Snapdragon 865, so it would make this model particularly special and a little quicker. The Snapdragon 870 is effectively an overclocked 865 Plus, sporting a clock speed of 3.2GHz instead of 3.1GHz. That’s a slim gain, but a performance boost is a boost nonetheless.

The tipster failed to detail the name or suffix of the Mi 10 device, but this isn’t the first time the existence of a Snapdragon 870-powered Xiaomi phone has been mentioned. Qualcomm itself confirmed that the silicon will be used by Xiaomi in an upcoming “flagship”. Other customers include the likes of OnePlus, Oppo, and Motorola which is set to announce the first Snapdragon 870 smartphone in the form of the Motorola Edge S.

As for other specs, it’s likely that Xiaomi could stick with the 6.67-inch AMOLED display, the 108MP primary camera at the rear, and at least 30W wired and wireless charging that featured across the Mi 10 models.

Recycling some specs from the previous models seemingly fits in with the quoted price, too. Digital Chat Station believes the device could come in around 3,500 yuan (~$540), which would make it considerably cheaper than the Mi 10’s initial 3,999 yuan (~$618) demand in China.
