Xiaomi may have just leaked the name and specs of its MediaTek flagship phone
- A new Redmi K30 variant has been spotted within a recent MIUI 12 build.
- The phone apparently has a pop-up camera setup and a 64MP shooter.
- It could be Xiaomi’s rumored MediaTek flagship.
The Xiaomi Redmi K30 series already consists of six smartphones and a seventh one might be on its way out. An XDA member has found a reference to a phone called the Redmi K30 Ultra within a recent MIUI 12 build. The name appeared alongside the codename “cezanne,” which further reveals some specs of the mysterious phone.
A code snippet in MIUI suggests that the Redmi K30 Ultra could come with a pop-up camera mechanism. The code also mentions a quad-camera setup for the phone led by a 64MP shooter. These basically sound like the specs for the Redmi K30 Pro and K30 Pro Zoom edition, But the biggest change that this new Redmi phone could bring is a MediaTek SoC instead of a Qualcomm one.
Until now, none of the Redmi K30 phones have featured a MediaTek chip, but Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi 10X and 10X Pro with the MediaTek Dimensity 820 5G SoC. The Redmi 10X series covers the budget 5G smartphone segment, so we’re guessing that the Redmi K30 Ultra might be a mid-range phone or a high-end flagship.
Popular Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has also been posting leaks recently about an upcoming Xiaomi phone featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chip and a 144Hz LCD display. He also claims that this device houses a 64MP IMX686 sensor, the same as the Redmi K30 Pro and K30 Pro Zoom. Perhaps most of the Redmi K30 Ultra specs will remain the same as the two K30 Pro phones except for the new chipset and the higher display refresh rate.
For now, there’s no more evidence to suggest that the leaked phone and the so-called Redmi K30 Ultra are one and the same. It’s rumored that Xiaomi will launch the leaked device this month so let’s wait and see.
