Xiaomi teases Mi CC9 Pro with 108MP camera, 5x optical zoom
Xiaomi wowed the world with the Mi Mix Alpha launched last month, offering a wraparound display and 108MP main camera. It looks like the Chinese manufacturer isn’t stopping there though, as it’s just teased a phone with the same primary camera and impressive zoom capabilities.
The company teased the launch of the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro on Weibo today, complete with a picture showing what could be a penta-lens camera setup. The picture (seen below) shows that the phone will have a 108MP camera as well as 5x optical zoom.
We already know that the 108MP camera promises a ton of detail in broad daylight, as well as 27MP pixel-binned images when the sun goes down. But the claim of 5x optical zoom means we might be looking at a periscope zoom camera akin to the Huawei P30 Pro and Oppo Reno 10X Zoom Edition.
As for the other rear sensors, we’ve likely got an ultra-wide camera, and a 3D ToF camera. But we’re still not sure what to make of the fifth lens. Is it a macro camera, depth sensor, or something different altogether?
In any event, Xiaomi says it’ll be holding an event for the phone on November 5. If it’s anything like other Mi CC9 phones, then we can expect an in-display fingerprint sensor. We’re also expecting flagship-level power in here, as a 108MP camera surely requires plenty of power to process images. Hopefully the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro price is in line with the firm’s usual flagships rather than the ~$2800 Mi Mix Alpha.
Xiaomi also confirmed that we’ll also see a Xiaomi watch and the Mi TV 5 on November 5. It’s believed that the wearable could be the firm’s first Wear OS smartwatch, dubbed the Mi Watch.
