Xiaomi Mi CC 9 announced: What to know about Xiaomi, Meitu’s first phone?

The Xiaomi Mi CC 9. Xiaomi

We’ve known for a few weeks now that Xiaomi has been readying its first phones as part of its partnership with Meitu. Now, the Chinese brand has announced the Xiaomi Mi CC 9.

The new phone packs a 32MP selfie camera in a waterdrop notch, while a 6.39-inch OLED screen (full HD+) and in-display fingerprint sensor rounds out the front. Switch to the back, and we’ve got a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, and what looks like a 2MP depth sensor. Don’t expect a telephoto camera here then.

The Mi CC 9 also offers the ability to swap out the sky in a photo for a more aesthetically pleasant backdrop (as previously seen in the MIUI beta). One of the Xiaomi examples used was a grey sky in a landscape picture being swapped out for blue skies.

In terms of power, the new phone offers a Snapdragon 710 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of storage. The Mi CC 9 also offers a 4,030mAh battery with 18 watt charging. It’s a little disappointing that we don’t see the company’s 27 watt charging here, but Xiaomi is apparently promising 43 percent capacity after 30 minutes of charging.

Other noteworthy details include a 3.5mm port, NFC, USB-C connectivity, and Game Turbo 2.0 support.

The Xiaomi Mi CC 9 starts at 1,799 yuan (~$262) for the 6GB/64GB variant, and 1,999 yuan (~$291) for the 6GB/128GB model.

This is a breaking news story — more to follow.
