Watch Canelo-Jacobs May 4 on DAZN

Both fighters are seeking victory to define their legacies, as DAZN makes a name for itself.

DAZN has promised fans the biggest fights without the high costs of pay per view, and this weekend they deliver more than ever before. This Saturday they will feature a main event that boxing experts and fans are calling the Fight of the Year. You know you want to be a part of it, so invite your friends, pick up some drinks, and be prepared for thrills as you watch Canelo vs. Jacobs exclusively on DAZN.

Canelo vs. Jacobs is happening on Saturday, May 4, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. This colossal fight card is available to watch exclusively on DAZN, beginning with the undercard at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time. The Main card should begin at 9 p.m. Eastern time, but tell your friends to come by early so no one misses a second of this one.

Saul Canelo Álvarez (51-1-2) is an established champion focused on his legacy. As the current WBA Super, WBC and The Ring World Middleweight Champion, Canelo is at the top of his game, and legends of the sport praise his approach to boxing. Alvarez appears to bring something new into every bout, and is constantly learning from his foes as he grows as a tactician. Canelo has a reputation as a vicious puncher and a fast mover. "Sugar" Ray Leonard breaks down the greatness of Canelo's artful style for DAZN, as he highlights his aggressive nature, strategic moves designed to break opponents guards, and calm patience in the height of tense battles.

Most importantly, Alvarez has taken on all opponents in a sport where some champions prefer to schedule easy opponents rather than evenly matched foes. His legend has been made by his face offs with Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley, Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto and back to back fights against Gennady "GGG" Golovkin. It was Mayweather that delivered Canelo's only defeat, in a split majority decision of a fight that went the distance. Will his next fight go the distance, or will his power shots prove enough to earn his 36th knockout?

Daniel "Miracle Man" Jacobs (35-2) is also a champion, but one who has managed to stay as hungry as young challenger throughout an accomplished career. He is the IBF World Middleweight Champion, and previously held the WBA middleweight title before a loss to Gennady "GGG" Golovkin in 2017. Jacobs draws upon his early life, being beat up in rough Brooklyn neighborhoods, as well as his cancer diagnosis. These events inspire him to stay focused, grateful and aggressive through even the highest points of his career. Bone cancer may have almost taken boxing away, and threatened his quality of life, but it never robbed Daniel Jacobs of his power.

That power extends from the mental to the physical, especially in Jacobs fists. The "Miracle Man" has 29 of his 35 wins by knockout, and he had a twelve fight stretch of consecutive TKOs or opponents who threw in the towel. Jacobs is not shy about what he wants from Canelo. It is more than the belts or the money. Jacobs seeks the legacy and respect he believes his career has earned him but has not yet been received. Clearly, he is taking the hardest path possible to achieve that legacy, and Canelo will be as hard an opponent for Jacobs as he will be for Canelo.

The championship boxing isn't limited to only the main event. Three more bouts on the event card are title fights, including another matchup that pits champion against champion. Lamont Roach (18-0-1) is the WBO International Super Featherweight Champion, and he will fight Jonathan "Polvo" Oquendo (30-5), the WBO NABO Super Featherweight Champion. Check out the full undercard.

  • Lamont Roach (18-0-1) vs. Jonathan "Polvo" Oquendo (30-5)
  • Vergil Ortiz Jr. (12-0) vs. Mauricio "El Maestro" Herrera (24-8)
  • Joseph Diaz Jr. (28-1) vs. Freddy Fonseca (26-2-1)
  • Sadam "World Kid" Ali (27-2) vs. Anthony "Juice" Young (20-2)
  • John "The Gorilla" Ryder (27-4) vs. Bilal Akkawy
  • Alexis Espino (1-0) vs. Billy Wagner (1-0)

For those expecting other big matches, there is some bad news. David Lemieux (40-4) was set to be John Ryder's opponent on this card. However, Dan Rafael of ESPN reports Lemieux cancelled due to injury. This comes after Lemieux cancelled his last fight because he failed to make weight. The fight between Pablo "El Demoledor" Cesar Cano (32-7-1) and Michael Angelo "The Artist" Perez (25-3-2) is also off, due to Cano injuring his right hand, according to a report by Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN Deportes. These fighters are disappointed to miss out on this event, which is still set to be an exciting card.

When Canelo faced "GGG" last year, the pay per view cost $85 for one night. DAZN is $99 for 100 fights a year.
